Successful enduring community activists are a rarity. They are locally grown. They have successful worldly business experience. They are seldom if ever young. They don't need fame nor much money for themselves. They are not easily defeated. They suffer. Those close to them suffer and sacrifice. The necessity of suffering and sacrifice is accepted, even as the suffering is not. They are neither normal nor average. They are exceptional and in short supply. Their absence is filled by naivety, greed, and/or bureaucracy.
People have trouble listening to them. They are too different for others comfort. They are at risk of being other's scapegoats. The establishment and the the activist often drift apart.
